Agnes Fenton (nee Jones; 1 August 1905? – 24 August 2017) was an American supercentenarian claimant.

Biography

Agnes claims to have been born in Holly Springs, Marshall, Mississippi on 1 August 1905. Her father died when she was an infant and she grew up with her mother. She moved to Memphis, Tennessee, when she was 14. As a young woman, Agnes became one of the first African-American women to own and operate a business with the opening of The Pals Duck Inn, located in Memphis. Her restaurant, located near LeMoyne-Owen College, still exists today. She is resident of Englewood since the 1950’s. She married twice. Her second husband, Vincent Fenton, passed away in 1970. Following many years of running her successful restaurant, Mrs. Fenton decided to get a new job in the kitchen of an Emerson, New Jersey company.

Fenton died in her Englewood home on 24 August 2017.
