Agnes Ann Munce nee Ellison (17 January 1877 – 17 December 1988) was a Canadian supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).

Biography[]

Agnes Munce was born as Agnes Ann Ellison in Parkhill, McGillivray, Middlesex County, Ontario, Canada on 17 January 1877. Her parents were John Ellison and Martha Murray. She worked as a Corset Maker and Seamstress at London, Ontario. She married John Munce on June 18, 1901 and moved to Lacombe, Alberta. The couple had five children, including a daughter Martha Olivia Munce (1910 - 2010) (married Burton).

On her 111th birthday in 1988, her doctor stated that she longevity was due to her positive attitude and her taking care of herself physically and mentally. Agnes Munce moved to a nursing home when she was 102 years old. She once broke her leg as a result of a rainstorm.

Agnes Munce died in Red Deer, Red Deer Census Division, Alberta, Canada on 17 December 1988 at the age of 111 years, 335 days. At the time of her death she was believed to be oldest living woman in Canada.
