Alfred "Alf" Smith (born 29 March 1908) is a British centenarian who has been the joint-oldest man in the United Kingdom since the death of John Mansfield on 27 November 2016. He currently shares the title with Bob Weighton of Alton, Hampshire, England.[1]

Smith was born in Invergowrie, and was the fifth of six sons born to John and Jessie Smith.[2] He attended Invegowrie Primary School and Harris Academy, before leaving school at the age of 14.[3] He emigrated to Canada with his eldest brother in 1927, but later moved back to Scotland to help run the family farm following the death of his father.[4] He later served in the Home Guard during the Second World War.[2]

He married Isobel Harper in 1937, and the couple had two children, Irene and Allan. Allan passed away in 2016.[3] Following the death of his wife in 2003, at the age of 97, Smith lived alone in his St. Madoes home, although he now lives with his daughter following a fall in August 2016.[3]
