Arrelia High (née McMillan) (2 July 1903 – 22 February 2015) was an American supercentenarian whose case is pending by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) as of February 2015. She was one of the oldest known people in North Carolina at the time of her death.
Arrelia High was born Arrelia McMillan on 2 July 1903 in Bladen County, North Carolina to parents Jasper S. McMillan and Polly McDowell. She was one of six children born to the couple; she had a twin sister named Annolia. Her father Jasper had already had seven children from a previous marriage.
In 1933, Jasper McMillan passed away. Arrelia's mother Polly followed in 1935. Arrelia moved to New York and then to New Jersey, where she worked as a house cleaner. It wasn't until 1941 that Arrelia met and married her husband Billy High. The couple never had children. They moved to New York in 1952 and remained there until Billy's death in 1965, after which Arrelia moved back to Bladen, North Carolina.
In her later years, Arrelia was friends with fellow supercentenarian Florence McKoy (1903-2014). They had worked together many years ago. At the time of Arrelia's 110th birthday, Florence was the only person in Elizabethtown older than her.
Arrelia High passed away on 22 February 2015 in Elizabethtown Nursing Center at the age of 111 years, 235 days.
