Arthur Nash (7 January 1885 – 4 November 1996) was an unverified British-Canadian supercentenarian.

Early life

Arthur Nash was born near Birmingham, Worcestershire, United Kingdom, on 7 January 1885. His parents were Alfred, an ivory turner, and Laura Nash. The couple had seven children in total, of whom Arthur was the youngest. He had 5 brothers and one sister. His mother Laura passed away in 1890, when Arthur was just 5 years old.

In 1901, the family emigrated by ship and train to the small town Cowan in the Canadian province Manitoba. Arthur held various jobs including working as a cook for a telegraph company, setting up his own sawmill business with one of his brothers, and later on as a farmer on the homestead the Nash family had purchased upon arrival.

Arthur married Theresa Kennedy on 9 September 1918. The couple had five sons and two daughters in total.

Later life

Throughout most of his centenarian years, he was still physically active and was able to do various chores and walk around with no difficulties. He moved in with one of his sons when he was 105 years old. Around 1993, an illness forced him to enter a nursing home.

Arthur Nash passed away on 4 November 1996 in Swan River, Manitoba, at the age of 111 years, 302 days. He may be the oldest man to ever die in Canada, breaking a record that George Ives set in 1993. Arthur may also be the 3rd oldest man to be born in the United Kingdom, behind Henry Allingham and John Evans.
