María Bienvenida Vergara Jaen de Cano (6 April 1904 – 6 June 2017) was a Panamanian supercentenarian who is the recordholder for her country. She is noted as being the first verified supercentenarian from Panama.[1]
Biography
Bienvenida was born in Las Tablas, a town in Southern Panama to Silverio Vergara and Francisca Jaén de Vergara. She was the oldest of 12 children. She married Elias Cano in 1922 and had two daughters. At the age of 108, she still had a living brother, Hipolito.[2]
