Emily Beatrice Riley (née Ogilvy) (13 October 1896 - 15 May 2009) was an Australian supercentenarian. She was the oldest person in Australia when she died. Her case is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
E. Beatrice Riley was born Emily Beatrice Ogilvy in Poowong, Victoria, Australia, on 13 October 1896. She had a kidney removed when she was young, and battled illness as a result. She married Alex Riley in 1926 and the couple had 2 children, Cliff and Marilyn. Marilyn died in 2007, but Cliff was still alive at 81 when his mother turned 112.
Riley loved to ride horses, and she and her family moved to Ivanhoe, Melbourne, where she worked as a nurse. Her husband Alex passed away in 1986, and she lived on her own until 1995, when she moved into View Bank Nursing Home in Melbourne, where she lived the rest of her life.
Riley hardly ever flew in an aeroplane. Until she was 107, she kept up a strict exercise regime. Ever since she her 100th birthday, every night before dinner, she would have a small glass of Bailey's Irish Cream. On her 112th birthday, she had six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
E. Beatrice Riley passed away on 15 May 2009 at the age of 112 years, 214 days.
