Biography

Eva McConnell was born on 5 May 1901 in Wellington, New South Wales, Australia, as one of 12 children. She grew up on a farm where Burrendong Dam now stands. She later married and had six children; at least two of them (Jack and Nola) were alive as of their mother's 110th birthday.

At the age of 100, she was still chopping wood, and was still living alone at 101. At 102, she moved in with her grandson, and when she was 104, she moved in with her daughter Nola and son-in-law John. Eva became Australia's oldest person on 29 October 2011, after the death of 112-year-old Miriam Schmierer.

Eva McConnell passed away on 15 August 2012 at the age of 111 years, 102 days. In addition to six children, she also had 13 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 34 great-great-grandchildren. After her death, Jane Gray became Australia's oldest person.
