Agnes Fenton (née Jones; 1 August 1905? – 24 August 2017) was an American supercentenarian claimant whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).

Biography[]

Agnes claimed to have been born in Holly Springs, Marshall, Mississippi, USA, on 1 August 1905. Her father died when she was an infant and she grew up with her mother. She moved to Memphis, Tennessee, when she was 14. As a young woman, Agnes became one of the first African-American women to own and operate a business with the opening of The Pals Duck Inn, located in Memphis. Her restaurant, located near LeMoyne-Owen College, still exists today.

Fenton was a resident of Englewood since the 1950’s. She married twice. Her second husband, Vincent Fenton, died in 1970. Following many years of running her successful restaurant, Fenton decided to get a new job in the kitchen of an Emerson, New Jersey company.

Fenton died in Englewood, New Jersey, USA, on 24 August 2017 at the claimed age of 112 years, 23 days.
