Ana Nogueira de Lucas (20 June 1896 – 18 November 2010) was a Brazilian supercentenarian whose claim to the World's oldest living person title is currently unvalidated by the Guinness World Records (GWR). If verified, she would have been the oldest living person for two weeks, from 4 November 2010 (the death of Eugenie Blanchard) to her own death on 18 November 2010.
Biography
Ana Nogueira was born in Pouso Alto, Minas Gerais, on 21 June 1896 on a farm called "Mosque", to Paulino Vito Nogueira and Mathilde Luiza Gonçalves. Her parents had seven children: João Pedro, Joseph Rosa, Francisco Joaquim Antonio, Gerard, and Maria da Conceição. Her father was the director of the school. Ana's mother died when she was 13, and Ana took care of her younger brother, Gerard. Then she was sent to live with a relative in Carmo de Minas for 3 years. Afterwards, she moved back to Pouso Alto. During this, her father remarried, to a cousin named Leopoldina. Ana married Egydio de Lucas on 17 January 1917. She had 12 children with her husband: Marie Antoinette, Clelia, Mathilde, Geraldo, Angelo, Joseph, Egidio, Maria Clelia, Marina, Paul, Vito, and Nestor. Marie Antoinette, Clelia, Mathilde, and Geraldo died as infants. Her husband died on 17 January 1976. She broke her leg at age of 98.
Nogueira de Lucas died of cardiac arrest in Sao Sebastiao do Rio Verde, Minas Gerais on 18 November 2010 at the age of 114 years, 151 days. She was buried on Municipal Cemetery of Sao Sebastiao do Rio Verde. At the time of her death, she had 28 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
