Catalina Reyes (née Zepeda; 30 April 1907 – 15 February 2018) was a Mexican-American supercentenarian whose age is validated by Latin American Supercentenarians (LAS). At the time of her death, she was one of the oldest known people in Texas, USA.
Biography
Catalina Reyes was born as Catalina Zepeda in Durango, Mexico, on 30 April 1907. Her parents were Jose Angel and Natividad Zepeda. In 1925, when she was 18, she married J. Cruz Reyes and had six children with him.
On 21 July 1968, aged 61, Reyes emigrated to Texas, USA, and lived there for the rest of her life. Her family celebrated her birthday and Mother’s Day simultaneously. According to her children, her secret to longevity is not smoking or drinking, and always eating fresh food.
Reyes died in Dallas, Texas, USA on 15 February 2018 at the age of 110 years, 291 days. Her age was validated by LAS, based on the research of Jimmy Lindberg and Anri Kusaku. The validation was later accepted by LongeviQuest (LQ).
