Hilliard Hudson (23 February 1899 – 6 November 2009) was an American supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Hilliard Hudson was born in Sumter County, Alabama, United States on 23 February 1899. He grew up to be a sharecropper, harvesting crops such as corn, cotton and peanuts. During the Great Depression, he worked with the Works Progress Administration, a relief program that was part of President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s New Deal, working on highways and roads. Hudson also worked a couple of years in Mobile as a dockhand. During WW1 he tried to draft on 12 September 1918 but it's not known was he accepted or did he participated war itself. Hudson was married for more than 65 years and had 13 children and at the time of his death he had numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. He turned 110 and Became a Supercentenarian in 2009 Becoming the first man in Alabama to reach this age since Rufus Clansy
Hudson died in Park Manor Nursing Home in Northport, Alabama, United States on 6 November 2009 at the age of 110 years, 256 days. He was at the time of his death, the third-oldest living man in the United States and the fourth in the world. He was also the oldest living black man in the world and was among the last four verified men born in the 1800's and the last one born in 1899, however pending case Michael DeSantis also born in 1899 died later than him. He's the second oldest man to ever die in the state of Alabama, after Frederick Frazier (1880–1993).
