Joseph Athmann (23 March 1888 – 2 September 1998) was a validated American supercentenarian.
Biography[]
Joseph Henry Athmann was born in Spring Hill Township, Stearns County, Minnesota, USA, on 2 September 1998. His parents were Bernard and Veronica Athmann. On 28 October 1913, he married Anna Waldorf. The couple worked as farmers. Anna passed away on 18 November 1923, at age 30. He remarried the following year; to Susan Waldorf on 25 November 1924. It is not stated whether Susan and Anna were related or not.
Athmann began working with highway construction until he was in his mid-40s. After that, he continued farming for the remainder of his working life. Susan died on 9 May 1973. He was active in the local church and was the treasurer of Spring Hill for over 30 years.
Athmann passed away in Melrose, Minnesota, USA, on 2 September 1998, at the age of 110 years, 163 days. His 4 children were still alive at the time of his death. His brother Aloys lived to be 98 years old.
