Luther Logan Goding (1 July 1884 – 5 December 1995) was a validated American supercentenarian. He is the oldest validated man ever from the US state of Nebraska.

Biography[]

Luther Goding was born in Pauline, Adams County, Nebraska, USA on 1 July 1884. His parents were Jonas and Sarah Goding. He was educated in Fremont Normal School. He was married three times.

His first marriage was to Katie Jones on 27 December 1907. She died three years later. His second marriage was to Effie Peabody on 6 October 1914. She died in 1928. A year later, he married Leta Parkins, who later died in 1951. He had five children in total. Goding worked for the US Postal Service.

On his 95th birthday in 1979, he went rock-climbing in Colorado. At the age of 99, he was still physically active (walked a lot), but had poor eyesight.

Goding died in Hastings, Nebraska, USA on 5 December 1995 at the age of 111 years, 157 days. At the time of his death, he was the oldest known living American-born man and the second-oldest known living man in the United States, behind Christian Mortensen.
