Margaret Johnston "Peg" Vivian (née Brown; 25 February 1906 – 20 September 2018) was a validated British-born Australian supercentenarian. She was the oldest known person in Australia from the death of Marjorie Cooke on 1 September 2017, and the oldest British-born person from the death of Olive Boar on 28 August 2018.
Biography[]
Margaret Johnston Brown was born in Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom, on 25 February 1906. She was the youngest daughter. On her 10th birthday, she and her elder siblings Jean, aged 12, and Joe, 14, left the care of their aunt for the five-week journey. They moved to Fremantle, Western Australia, to Margaret's parents.
In 1927, Vivian married Jack Dagmar Milton Vivian (1904–1981), with whom she would have two children, Tom and Peggy, who were both alive at the time of her 112th birthday. She later took on the role of primary carer for her husband, who had emphysema for 17 years. After her husband died, Vivian was mentally and physically exhausted. Her family sent her to Queensland to a friend that the family had had for many years. After Vivian got back, she went on a world trip and joined Trinity School for Seniors.
Vivian died on 20 September 2018 in Doubleview, Perth, Western Australia at the age of 112 years, 207 days.
