Nell Foster (née Brooks; 27 March 1906 – 21 October 2016) was an American supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group(GRG).

Early life[]

Nell was born as Runell Brooks in Bay Creek, Georgia, United States, on 27 March 1906. Her parents were George B. (1861–1939) and Emma Palmer Brooks (1867–1951), the youngest of 12 children. Her father was a very prominent farmer and landowner and the family farm consisted of more than 150 acres that spanned across what is now the intersection of Highway 78 and Rosebud Road, with ownership of all four corners.

Adult life[]

She attended Midway School, only a short walk from her home, and later was one of the first students to attend the original Grayson High School, where she met her childhood sweetheart, Clyde Edgar Foster. After taking a teacher training course offered in high school, Foster obtained a position teaching at Midway School, where she would teach first through third grades. They were married on 12 February 1928, and lived in Atlanta until moving back in 1929 into the rock house built by her father that still remains at the intersection of Highway 78 and Rosebud Road. There they raised three daughters – Mary Thompson, Patricia Williams (1932–2013) and Sara Miles (1938–2003).

Later life[]

Nell's family are active members at the First Baptist Church in Grayson as well as in school and community activities. Her husband, Clyde passed away on 29 April 1978.

Nell Foster died in Loganville, Georgia, USA, on 21 October 2016, aged 110 years, 208 days.
