Biography[]
Sam Ledward was born in Gwernaffield, Wales, UK on 9 November 1906 and worked as a cabinet-maker and as a butcher. At the age of 30 after a motorbike accident, doctors had decleared him dead. He was found to be alive after an eagle-eyed man saw his hand move, and found he was still warm.[1] He spent much of his childhood in Winsford. He married a woman named Edith in 1940 and the two lived in Blackpool. Edith died in 1993. Two years later, Ledward moved to Flintshire to live with Edith's cousin Millie Minshall (aged 90 in November 2012).
Ledward died in Blackpool, Lancashire, England, UK on 18 August 2015 at the age of 108 years, 282 days.[2][3] After his death, 107-year-old Clifford Parfitt became the oldest man born in Wales.
