Hildegard Lange (12 January 1907 – c.20 September 2019) was a German supercentenarian whose age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) on 8 April 2019. She was the third-known-oldest person in Germany and, at the time of her death, the only validated supercentenarian living in Germany.

Biography

Hildegard Lange was born in Allenstein, East Prussia, Germany (now Olsztyn, Warmia-Masuria, Poland) on 12 January 1907. She later married Dr. Erwin Lange and had three children and a foster daughter. After the war, she and her husband relocated to Rostock. She and her husband retired to Detmold, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany in 1966, where Hildegard has lived ever since.

In her later years, she had surgery on her hip. In 2018, she celebrated her 111th birthday. Only one of her sons was still alive at the time of her 111th birthday: her youngest son, aged 85. Aged 111, she still used a typewriter to complete documents for the tax office independently.

Hildegard Lange died in Detmold, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany on circa 20 September 2019 at the age of 112 years, c.251 days.
