John Quincy Post was born on 7 June 1884 in Ovid, New York to parents Horace and Venora Post. He moved to Camden, New Gretna, New Jersey in 1915. He married Sara Adams in 1917 when he was 35. That same year, their son James Clarence Post was born. In 1923, the couple had a daughter, Naomi (married Maurer). In the 1920s, John owned a grocery store on what is now Rt. 9, just down the road from Chalkley Cramer's Hardware Store. His wife Sara passed away in 1945 after 28 years of marriage. John then moved to Pleasantville, but moved back to New Gretna to live with his daughter in 1975.
His age varies in different documents from being born in 1882-1885, but given that the earliest documents tend to be more reliable, Post was most likely born in 1884.
John Quincy Post died on 23 May 1995 at the most likely age of 110 years, 350 days in New Gretna, New Jersey, USA.
