Lilian "Lil" Cornell (née Wilson; 21 August 1904 – 11 January 2016) was a verified British-born Canadian supercentenarian, who was the oldest known living person in Canada following the death of Marguerite Wabano on 13 November 2015 until her own death 2 months later. She was also the last known living Canadian born in 1904.
Doris Lilian Wilson was born on 21 August 1904, in Leverton, Lincolnshire, England, to parents William and Gertrude Wilson. She emigrated with her mother and older sister to Montreal, Canada in April 1912, to join their father, who had emigrated the year before. Her mother died when Lilian was only 14 years old, due to a ruptured appendix.
After completing school in 1921, Lilian trained as a nurse as part of a Saskatoon Hospital nursing program. At the age of 22, she met her future husband, Howard Cornell. The couple had their only child in 1929, a daughter whom they called Lou. The couple later moved to North Battleford, Saskatchewan. Howard passed away in 1977. Lilian continued to live in the same house until the age of 108 when she moved to Villa Pascal, also in Saskatchewan.
When asked about the secret to her longevity, she replied that she has never smoked or drank, but also has never adhered to any kind of diet.
