Mamie May Tarver (née Murphy) (born 18 April 1907) is an American supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). She is one of the oldest known living people in New Jersey, USA.

Biography

Mamie Tarver was born Mamie May Murphy on 18 April 1907 in Henry, Alabama, USA to parents Franklin and Nancy (née Guilford) Murphy. She had several siblings. The family moved to Cranford, New Jersey when Mamie was 15.

In the 1920s, Mamie married Peter Tarver and had eight children with him: Margaret, James, Harold, Geraldine, George, Eric, and two others. She was later widowed.

Mamie is the great-aunt of former Cranford Police Chief Eric Mason. During her centenarian years, Mamie took no medication. On her 106th birthday, she was congratulated by then-President Barack Obama and the then-First Lady Michelle Obama. She was also sent a birthday letter by Willard Scott of the NBC’s Today Show.

Mamie celebrated her 110th birthday in April 2017 by having a party with a lot of her family in attendance. Along with her eight children, she has several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Mamie Tarver currently lives in Cranford, New Jersey, USA, at the age of 117 years, 1 days.
