112 years, 332 days
Masazo Nonaka was born in Kamitoshibetsu, Ashoro, Hokkaido on 25 July 1905 as the eldest son of Masujiro and Kiyo Nonaka. His mother was founder of onsen (Japanese hot spring) "Nonaka". He had two brothers and three sisters (all now deceased). He married Hatsuno Nonaka and had 5 children (2 living).
Nonaka lives in Ashoro, Hokkaido. He has been the oldest living person in Hokkaido prefecture since the death of Teru Hatakeyama on 3 April 2016. He became the oldest living man in Japan following the death of Masamitsu Yoshida on 29 October 2016.
On 25 July 2017, Nonaka celebrated his 112th birthday. Following the death of Israel Kristal on 11 August 2017, Nonaka was, at the time, the oldest living man validated by the Gerontology Research Group. However, the subsequent validation of Francisco Nunez Olivera means that Nonaka is recognised as being the oldest living man since Nunez Olivera's death on 29 January 2018. He was officially recognised by Guinness World Records on 10 April 2018.
