  • Greetings,

Regarding your recent edit to Georg Olaffson, if using the alternate-language (in this case, Icelandic) spelling, please include in parentheses and state the language being used.

Our minimalist approach to the incorporation of alternate characters is, in part, due to my philosophy that this is, first and foremost, an English-language edition of the Gerontology Wiki and, secondly, we should be fair. No one is going to write Nabi Tajima in Japanese, so we should not assume other languages should have privileges.

I'm O.K. with using non-English diacritical marks and symbols if the text is "alternate" text (that is, designated as another language) but not with the English language. For me, this is more than just so that search engines will run smoothly: it's that I think the whole concept that we should write English-language material in the language of the home country misses the point of a lingua franca.Ryoung122 (talk) 22:36, April 5, 2017 (UTC)

  • Hello, Jim1997. Do you can fix templates on next articles: Etsu NishiuraShigeyo NakachiToshiko TsudaCarmen Gomez Gonzalez, Jeanne Bot, Shizue Abe, Maria Veiga Amado, Hisa Arai, Celina Fernandez-Pacheco.

I really don't know why templates don't work.

  • Please do not remove Zheng Ji, John Joe Begay, Jessie Champion, and Alejandro Rivera-Santella.

If Zhou Youguang, a Chinese academic claiming to be 110, is included, then so should Zheng Ji, another Chinese academic who claimed to be 110.

Begay, Champion, and Rivera-Santella were two-star cases under the old system. Begay had a 1900 census record, Champion had a 1910 census record, and Rivera-Santella came from the Spanish Galicia study.

  • Your input is requested at the blogs. I just started two list articles for the deaths of notable gerontologists in years 2014 and 2016. In the future, we should expand this entire series. We might also want to have a "Notable centenarian deaths" series as well. To link the three deaths series tracks, a supercategory is needed. I started "Deaths in 2016" and "Deaths in 2014" as two supercategories, but I noticed that some had started "2014 deaths". So, we need to come up with a standard category format and merge efforts such as "Deaths in 2014" and "2014 deaths". The question now is...which way would be better?Ryoung122 (talk) 21:15, February 19, 2016 (UTC)

  • Greetings Jim1997,

Photo names should be written in English. If someone wishes to use another language (Japanese, German, etc.), please include in the main article text in parentheses after the standard English spelling.

    Thanks.Ryoung122 (talk) 18:31, January 22, 2016 (UTC)

  • I've noticed the infoboxes in the articles of Elisabeth Hamm, Marjorie Cooke and Ellen Brandenborg are not working. Could you fix them?

    Thanks.

  • Greetings, I'm not comfortable with using bolding to indicate gender. Bold usually indicates superior status and I feel that this is genderist bias. Moreover, the GRG uses bolding to indicate titleholder status in a chronological list. Please help change the lists of supercentenarians by year of birth. We can add a gender column instead.Ryoung122 (talk) 18:58, January 9, 2016 (UTC)
