Theophane Rifosta (6 September 1889 – 16 June 1999) was a centenarian from the French overseas department of Reunion, who was oldest known living man in France at the time of his death. He was also the oldest man ever from Reunion until Jean-Clementus Amano surpassed him in 2018.

Biography[]

Theophane Rifosta was born in Reunion on 6 September 1889.[1]

He became the oldest known living man in France, following the death of 108-year-old Jules Many on 10 March 1997.

Rifosta died in Reunion on 16 June 1999 at the age of 109 years, 283 days.[2][3] Following his death, then-108-year-old Alexis Daigneau became the oldest known living man in France.
