Vera Schmitt (28 December 1903 – 26 April 2014) was a German supercentenarian who was, at the time of her death, the 2nd-oldest inhabitant of Bavaria. She is currently pending.
Schmitt was born 28 December 1903 in Schweinfurt and spent her childhood and youth in Nürnberg. Later she worked as medical technical assistant at Würzburg’s University Children's Hospital. Until 1998 she was living on her own in Grombühl, a district of Würzburg. Then she moved into a nursing home in Heidingsfeld, Würzburg. From that time the daughter of a former co-worker took care of her because Schmitt never married or had children. When she turned 109, Schmitt was bedridden but alert most of the time. In past she always enjoyed singing and playing the piano.
On 26 April 2014, Schmitt passed away at age 110 years, 119 days. She was Bavaria’s 2nd-oldest living citizen next to Margarete Ottmann.
