Yaso Kobayashi (2 March 1846? – 29 May 1964) was a supercentenarian claimant who was considered by the government of Japan to be the second-oldest Japanese person ever (after Shigechiyo Izumi), and the oldest Japanese woman ever, at the claimed age of 118 years, 88 days. She resided in Yamanashi prefecture.
However, modern scientific authorities have not recognized her age as validated due in part to her alleged year of birth far predating the establishment of the modern Japanese koseki family registration system, which was instituted in the 1870s.
She died on 29 May 1964 of pneumonia, after having been paralysed by a stroke in January of that year.
